The lifter's back was at this angle as the bar left the platform. He stays at this angle till the bar reaches the knees, as in this picture. Only at this point will his back come more erect, transfering the pulling action from the legs and hips to the traps. As the bar reaches the top of the thighs, the shoulders are shrugged very forcefully. This is the "top pull." The bar has accelerated gradually since it left the floor. It will be in the correct position to squat under if the bar was pulled correctly from the floor. Use the menu on the left to continue.
